Palacio Property Group, a local Redlands property development company has announced it will be the principle partner of the Redlands Hockey Association for at least the next two years. This is very timely news for both organisations who in 2012 are celebrating five years of operation and an Olympic Games where hockey has been one of Australia’s most successful team sports.
This sponsorship announcement coincided with the signing of an ‘Olympic Hockey Banner’ for the Australian Hockey Teams – the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras at Henry Ziegenfusz Park in Cleveland on Saturday to wish the teams well on their Olympic journey. Junior and senior hockey players, their families and volunteers turned out in good numbers to support the signing, including a special guest appearance from Redland City Mayor – Melva Hobson.
Managing Director of Palacio, Stuart McQueen said he was delighted to be involved with such a successful, professional and innovative local community group such as Redlands Hockey. “It is important to re-invest money back into the local community that supports our business. My wife and three daughters all play with Redlands Hockey and I can see the obvious physical, social and emotional benefits they receive from being involved” he said.
President of the Redlands Hockey Association and former ‘Hockeyroo’ – Melanie Woosnam said that “the association had a lot to celebrate this year with the Olympics, our 5thanniversary and now a principle partner in Palacio – it’s going to be a great year!“. Melanie explained that “having a principle partner in Palacio Property Group will enable us to continue to grow and develop the association and its members. It will assist us to achieve our primary goals of providing quality, safe and enjoyable hockey participation opportunities for all. It will also allow us to continue to offer affordable fees and great value for money which is important for families, particularly in this difficult economic climate”.
Redlands Hockey Association is one of the fastest growing sporting organisations in the Redlands and will have over 300 members and 50 volunteers this season. The association promotes hockey as a ‘sport the whole family can play’ and caters for boys and girls and men and women of all skill levels and all ages from 5 to 65 years of age. “Some of the keys to our success are that we play all games at the one venue at Henry Ziegenfusz Park in Cleveland each Saturday which reduces travel costs and time for families. It also promotes community spirit and belonging and maximises promotional opportunities for sponsors” Melanie indicated.
Like Palacio Property Group, Redlands Hockey understands the importance of working with a number of key stakeholders to achieve their goals. The association is very fortunate to have developed good working relationships with the Redland City Council, existing park user groups in the Cleveland-Thornlands Cricket Club and the Redlands Aero Model Soarers as well as local schools and businesses. The association also received a grant last year from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund to build a much needed storage shed.
Both Palacio Property Group and Redlands Hockey understand and value the importance of community involvement, forging positive relationships and building the capacity of their members and clients. It is through synergies like these that partnerships between non-profit organisations and private enterprise can work and deliver mutually beneficial outcomes for all involved.
