Councillor Barbara Townsend today welcomed Redland Bay‟s latest million dollar residential development, saying it would liven up the local centre, improve business and bring more people to the area.
The 13-unit residential development which is being developed by Palacio Property Group isdesigned for Redland‟s retiree population.
Cr Townsend said the project was the latest in a string of retiree-oriented properties to be developed in the region over the past few years.
“There are a number of developments in Victoria Point and Redland Bay that suit our older citizens and Council has supported these, particularly as such developments allow our residents to stay in the area, close to family, as they grow older” she said.
“It‟s a great development for Redland Bay and I am excited to see construction start at last.”
Each contemporary two and three bedroom villa has air-conditioning, features either a single or double garage and includes a spacious terrace and barbeque area.
Palacio Property Group managing director Stuart McQueen said the development, called„Bahia Breeze‟ has been a year in planning.
“It‟s fantastic to finally start construction. We‟ve had a good response from the public andwe look forward to working with the Council throughout this process,” Mr McQueen said.
“We really wanted to provide something that wasn‟t already offered in the region. We did
research and have explored a lot of different things to cater to people‟s individual needs,” he said.
“We found that people want to have the option to live at home while they retire and they want to do it in style. Our units are contemporary and incorporate sustainable, thoughtfuldesign.”
Award-winning company CMS Building and Design is building the development, which is located at 117 Broadwater Terrace. Building Manager Charles Schulz said the complex had countless benefits for residents.
“It‟ll have a great community feel. Owners can also appreciate its central location. We‟ve got shopping centres and doctors just up the road. It‟s in a really lovely area. I‟d be happyto live here!” Mr Schulz said.
Mr Schulz said construction should be complete by October, with a display unit finished bythe end of July. “By that time we‟ll have furniture in the home, and the public can look around.”
